BB Media: New Streamers Launch, Old Streamers Fold in April

At least three streaming services folded in the month of April, but that was offset by the launch or announced launch of a half dozen more, according to media and entertainment data tracking firm BB Media’s latest report.

Europe saw long-running BritBox fold into ITVX, ceasing operations as a standalone service. Meanwhile Allente and NonStop Entertainment are launching byNonStop, a streaming service as part of Allente’s TV packages, targeting viewers in Norway and the Nordic countries.

And Sony is set to launch a FAST streaming service named Sony One in Europe, offering free ad-supported access to a wide variety of streaming channels on select TVs.

Additionally, Premier Sports has relaunched in the UK and M6 Group is set to debut its new streaming service, M6+, in France.

In Latin America, Amazon launched MGM+, its rebranded streaming service featuring Lionsgate and Starz content, and Televisa announced its acquisition of AT&T’s stake in Sky México, making it the sole owner.

In North America, Donald Trump’s Truth Social is launching a live TV streaming service, while Comcast introduced its NOW brand in the U.S., with streaming services for Xfinity Internet customers at $20 a month.

Showtime’s standalone streaming service was discontinued as it has been integrated into Paramount+.
